摘要：

In this review, which is intended for the non-specialist, the basic constituents of magnetic pigment dispersion are examined. The role of each constituent is discussed. We also present a description of the apparatus and techniques used to prepare dispersions in a research or development laboratory, as opposed to the manufacturing environment. The characterisation techniques used to examine dispersions are reviewed and the effects of dispersion quality on the properties of the final coating are discussed.
