摘要：

A chemiluminescence effect occurring during the oxidation of disulfitomercurate solutions and its development to a sensitive method for the detection of atmospheric SO//2 is reported. Besides a description of the experimental set-up a short summary of the experiments, performed to optimise the chemiluminescence effect, is given. A possible reaction scheme is discussed and the detection limit of the method for the analysis of SO//2 is demonstrated. As an example of the efficiency of the method, measurements in the lower stratosphere are reported. During these measurements concentrations in the range of 0. 145 mu g SO//2/m**3 STP could be detected.
