摘要
This paper reports studies of the rates of dissolution of natural Brucite, optical grade MgO, and commercial Mg(OH)2 in aqueous solutions. Natural Brucite dissolves by means of a surface reaction requiring protons, and while some protonated ions accelerate the dissolution no inhibitors were found. Dis solution of less perfect Mg(OH)2 is normally diffusion limited; several sub stances which reduced the rate of dissolution of such Mg(OH)2 were found. MgO first reacts with water to form an Mg(OH)2 layer and the rate is con trolled by dissolution of the Mg(OH)2. © 1969, The Electrochemical Society, Inc. All rights reserved.
