摘要
A two-dimensional transient model for the removal of metal using a high power laser is developed. The nondimensional forms of the governing equation and the boundary conditions are derived and the numerical solution is obtained by using a finite element method. This finite element model is used to study the performance of material removing process for a wide range of parameters. The performance characteristics and the effects of these parameters on the shape and size of the groove formed are discussed.
