摘要
Phase relations in the magnesium oxide-rich corner of the system MgO-V2O5-MoO3 were studied. A new compound, Mg2.5VMoO8, was discovered. The solubility limit of molybdenum oxide in magnesium orthovanadate Mg3-xV2-2xMo2xO8 was found to be x ∼ 0.03. Butane oxidation studies of oxides with compositions along the pseudobinary line Mg3V2O8-Mg2.5VMoO8 -MgMoO4 were investigated. All the compositions studied maintain the high catalytic dehydrogenation selectivity of the magnesium orthovanadate which is attributed to the similarities of vanadium environment in Mg2.5VMoO8 and Mg3V3O8. Incorporation of molybdenum oxide in the orthovanadate results mainly in an increase of cracking products. © 1993 Academic Press. All rights reserved.
