EXTENSION OF DEBYE-HUCKEL THEORY OF ELECTROLYTE SOLUTIONS

摘要
The Debye-Hückel theory of electrolyte solutions is extended to take account of the so-called fluctuation potential. An oscillation in the Debye-Hückel potential for symmetrical electrolytes is predicted at approximately κa= 1.495 and the corresponding oscillation in the mean potential of the double layer pointed out. A simple derivation of the oscillation predicted by Kirkwood and Poirier is also given. Copyright ©1969 by the American Institute of Physics.
