摘要
An evaluation has been made of the accuracy of image stabilization that is obtained by the use of tightly fitting contact lenses. The procedure is to use a strong negative afterimage line as a reference and to make repeated determinations of the alignment between it and a stabilized image line. The result is to show that the stabilized image typically shifts its position by about 0.32 min arc from moment to moment, and exhibits an instability during one-minute runs represented by a standard deviation of about 0.4 min arc. Evidence is cited for the conclusion that such stabilization errors are not of sufficient magnitude to have important effects on the disappearance or reappearance of stabilized images. © 1968.
