EFFECT OF PRESSURE ON THE THERMAL-EXPANSION COEFFICIENT IN CENISN

摘要
Thermal expansion coefficient of CeNiSn single-crystal has been measured up to 8 kbar in the temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K. The thermal expansion coefficients alpha(i) (i = a, b and c) of CeNiSn are highly anisotropic. Around T = 50 K, we observed extremely mysterious anomaly in the alpha(i)(T) at 1 bar, which disappears at 8 kbar. Both alpha(a) and alpha(b) at 1 bar sharply decrease below 7 K, which originates in the opening of an anisotropic energy gap. However, this anomaly also disappears at 8 kbar.
