MAGNETOOPTICAL STUDY ON THE EXCITONIC SPECTRUM OF (C6H13NH3)2PBI4

Magneto-absorption spectra have been measured over the lowest-energy exciton region of a layered perovskite-type material (C6H13NH3)2PbI4 under pulsed high magnetic fields up to 42 T at 4.2 K. The magnetic fields are applied parallel and perpendicular to the c axis. The Zeeman splitting with small diamagnetic shifts has obviously been observed in the parallel-field configuration. The anisotropic Zeeman splittings have been observed in the perpendicular-field configuration. The diamagnetic shifts observed arc very small, indicating that the Wannier-exciton model based on the effective mass approximation is not appropriate for the lowest-energy excitons in (C6H13NH3)2PbI4. The anisotropic Zeeman splittings are well explained in terms of the cationic Frenkel-exciton model.
