摘要
The π interactions within molecules containing the pentafluorophenyl group are examined using the J24-ϕp relationship as proposed in the preceding paper. The following series, selected from the 73 pentafluorophenyl compounds studied, are discussed: pentafluorophenylphosphines and some of their complexes including metal carbonyl derivatives; compounds of the type C6F5XMR3, where X = O or S, M = Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb, and R = CH3 or C6H5; and of the type C6H5NHR where R = B(C6H5)2, CH3, H, Si(CH3)3, or Sn(CH3)3. Estimates of (p→d) π bonding between group IV elements and oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen are given, The influence of ó-bond polarity upon back donation by halogens is considered. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
