摘要
The ultimate mechanical properties of composite materials are strongly dependent upon the chemical and rheological events occurring during the cure cycle. This review paper assesses the feasibility of using embedded fibre-optic sensors to conduct in situ measurements of cure states, cure kinetics, resin viscosity and residual stress build-up during the manufacture of composite laminates. Several new techniques, some novel and some refinements of existing techniques are being developed to provide a basis for the eventual intelligent processing of composites.
