VORTEX PINNING BY TWIN BOUNDARIES AND CUO-PLANES IN HTSC SINGLE-CRYSTALS INVESTIGATED BY TORQUE MAGNETOMETRY

A YBCO single crystal having only one twin system with very uniform twin spacing is investigated by torque magnetometry for field rotation within {110}-planes being either parallel or perpendicular to twin planes. Several rotational hysteresis loss contributions are identified. The observed losses due to intrinsic pinning and twin pinning are independent of each other. Viscous losses during vortex motion are small in comparison to all other losses.
