摘要
A growing body of evidence indicates that a variety of animals can sense the earth's magnetic field. The possibility that the transducer of the magnetic sense is a microscopic ferromagnet of the sort observed in certain bacteria is examined theoretically. Neither energy and response time considerations nor existing experimental evidence make such a transducer implausible. © 1979.
