MODE DISPERSION IN UNIAXIAL OPTICAL-WAVEGUIDES

摘要
Exact mode-dispersion equations are derived for hybrid modes of propagation for the case of the uniaxial optic axis lying in the plane of an optical waveguide. Features of mode propagation in such waveguides are discussed for these orientations, including the existence of ordinary and extraordinary transverse wave-vector components, wavefront tilt, and ″energy walkoff.″
