SWEATING DISTURBANCES IN ADIES SYNDROME - A NEUROPATHIC MULTIPLEX OF THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS-SYSTEM

30 patients with Adie's syndrome were screened for sweating disturbances using the starchiodine method. In 17 patients (56.7%) such abnormalities were detected, their localisation being highly variable in the face, on the trunk, as well as on arms and legs. The distribution of the sudomotor defects indicates localised lesions of the sympathetic trunk. Adie's syndrome, therefore, can be considered as a neuropathy of the multiplex type predominantly involving the autonomic nervous system.
