摘要
The torsional modes of vibration of bridges do not in general involve pure rotation about the elastic axis of the deck structure because simultaneous lateral motion of the elastic axis occurs. Instead, the complex motion can be thought of as rotation about some point vertically above or below the equilibrium position of the elastic axis. The origins of torsional-lateral coupling and the implications for aerodynamic stability are discussed. A method for simulating the effects of torsional-lateral coupling on sectional models is given. © 1979.
