摘要
The magnetic susceptibility and Knight shift of PrCu4 and PrCu5 intermetallic compounds are investigated over the temperature range 80 to 800 K and 140 to 400 K, respectively. The most important contributions to the magnetic susceptibility are the Langevin term, expressing the paramagnetism of the localized f‐electrons, and a temperature independent term for which all the contributions are estimated. The phenomenological exchange integral Jsf between conduction electron spins and localized 4f‐electron spins is derived to be −3.65 × 10−3 eV for PrCu4 and 2.21 × 10−3 eV for PrCu5. As in the case of CeCu5 compound the s‐f coupling for PrCu5 is inversed in respect of that reported so far for all other compounds of rare‐earth elements with nonmagnetic ones.
