The axiomatic definition of the projection operators used in a previous work on a unified formulation of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics is improved. It is shown that in their definition one must carefully specify the class of functions on which they act in order to avoid misunderstandings. The process involved in the construction of a realization of these projection operators is illustrated in the simplest nontrivial case of the nonlinear" realization describing an inhomogeneous classical gas. © 1969."
