NATURE OF THE NIO ABSORPTION-EDGE WITHIN A SPIN POLARIZED BAND SCHEME

摘要
The NiO complex dielectric function has been calculated for a spin polarized band scheme applied to a D53d crystal structure. All band to band transitions have been allowed irrespective of the selection rules. The particular study of the d to d band transitions shows their existence and attributes the absorption edge to charge transfer between p ligand and d metal orbitals. Only one metal ion is implied in the onset transitions. © 1990.
