EVOLUTION OF A CEAL2 MODULATED STRUCTURE IN THE PRESENCE OF MAGNETIC DEFECTS

摘要
The magnetic behaviour of the ternary compounds Ce1-xPrxAl2 is studied by magnetic measurements and neutron diffraction. The modulated CeAl2 antiferromagnetic structure exists for low x (0.09). For larger x values (0.145), long-range ferromagnetism coexists with the antiferromagnetic structure. For x = 0.20 the antiferromagnetic structure has disappeared. In the 2 first cases, there are domains where the modulation propagation of the antiferromagnetic structure is quenched by praseodymium impurities. Equivalent effects can explain the extra lines observed in pure CeAl2 single crystals. © 1979.
