摘要
1. 1. In the absence of CaII or other polyvalent cations, Panulirus interruptus giant axons are inexcitable. 2. 2. The divalent ions MgII, SrII, BaII, MnII, FeII, CoII, NiII, ZnII and CdII substitute for calcium, with varying effectiveness. 3. 3. The trivalent ions LaIII, YIII and all of the lanthanides substitute for calcium, but cause a lengthening of the spike. 4. 4. The ions PtIV, PdII, AgI, AuIII, CdII, HgII and PbII are toxic at pH 7·5, even in the presence of calcium. 5. 5. The binding site for metals is an oxygen ligand, possibly phosphate. © 1969.
