NOVEL USES FOR THIOPHOSPHINIC ACIDS IN SOLVENT-EXTRACTION

American Cyanamid's Cyanex(R) 301 and 302 extractants were originally developed for use in the selective recovery of zinc from solutions also containing magnesium and, particularly, calcium. Since their introduction in 1985 and 1988, respectively, several more potential applications for these reagents have been examined. Two of those-the recovery of cadmium from wet process phosphoric acid and the separation of cobalt from nickeliferous solutions that also contain manganese-are described in this article.
