Simulations of switching characteristics in ferroelectrics have been carried out using a two-dimensional lattice model in ferroelectrics, in which latent nuclei are randomly distributed. The obtained results show that the remanent polarization P(r), the coercive field e(c) and the rectangular ratio R of hysteresis loops depend on the interaction coefficient between neighboring dipole moments kappa and the latent-nucleus density N. It is also found that as N increases, decreases the critical pulse width t*, for which the system returns to the initial polarization state after the removal of the narrow applied pulse field. The information is collected to examine the possibility of nondestructive readout in ferroelectric memory.
