De Haas-van Alphen measurements in molybdenum have been made in order to extend the limited information already available. Signals have been observed associated with all features of the Fermi surface except one (the electron ball), though even here it has been possible to make an estimate of the radius. Comparison has been made both with the Fermi surface predicted theoretically and with existing data. It has been found that Loucks' (1965) model for molybdenum agrees closely, though not completely, with the present results. In addition, the Fermi surface of molybdenum has been shown to differ from that of tungsten in a manner indicating a different d-band situation in the two metals. © 1969 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
