A new heterodyne ultrasound doppler blood velocitymeter has been constructed. The instrument operates in two switchable frequencies (1. 5 MHz and 6 MHz) and is switchable in pulsed or continuous mode. Two different emitting frequencies are incorporated in each instrument, 6 MHz is used for measurements on peripheral vessels in depths down to approximately 2. 5 cm, 1. 5 MHz covers the depth range down to approximately 10 cm and is used for measurements in deep vessels and the heart.
