DEVELOPMENT OF CONTRACEPTIVES - OBSTACLES AND OPPORTUNITIES

On February 14, 1990, the National Research Council's Committee on Contraceptive Development released a report on a two-year study of the process by which contraceptives are developed and approved for use in the United States.* The committee was established on the basis of a request to the Committee on Population of the National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine and received support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
