RELATIVE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTIONS OF NEUTRONS AND PROTONS IN SURFACE OF 48CA

摘要
The elastic scattering of 31 and 28.9 MeV alpha particles from 40Ca and 48Ca has been measured with high relative angular accuracy. The result is that the edge of the matter distribution (beyond the half density radius) in 48Ca extends ≈ 0.15 fm beyond that of 40Ca and is parallel in both nuclei. Combining this result with that of electron scattering, we conclude, in agreement with theoretical calculations, that the neutrons have a larger spatial extent than the protons in the surface region of 48Ca. © 1969.
