摘要
The factors determining the electron resonance linewidths of 6S state ions in solution are reviewed. A number of errors in existing treatments are pointed out and the Redfield relaxation matrices and linewidths for rotational modulation of quadratic and quartic terms in the spin hamiltonian are derived using vector coupling methods. The effects of solvent induced fluctuations in the zero-field splitting are also discussed. It is pointed out that an accurate treatment of the X-band spectra of manganese(II) ions, should take into account the second-order splitting of each hyperfine line in deriving the linewidths. © 1969 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
