An experimental comparison of some common methods of static, unidirectional, in-plane shear characterization of composite materials is presented. Good correlation is achieved for the non-linear shear stress/strain curve up to strain levels of interest for most design purposes. However, apparent shear strengths are strongly dependent on the test method employed. © 1979.
