RADIATION BY A POINT ELECTRIC-DIPOLE EMBEDDED IN A CHIRAL SPHERE

摘要
The fields radiated into free space by a point electric dipole embedded at the centre of a chiral sphere are obtained and discussed. It is shown that embedding in a chiral sphere enhances the radiation resistance; in addition, from the point of view of an observer in free space, the point electric dipole embedded in a chiral sphere appears to be made up of a point electric dipole and a point magnetic dipole. These observations indicate the potential use of chiral materials for making antenna radomes. © 1990 IOP Publishing Ltd.
