摘要
In order to offer a theoretical basis for medium range order, a stastistical thermodynamical consideration and calculation are performed. The entity of medium range order in a liquid must be the small semi-crystalline clusters of atoms appearing and disappearing dynamically as the embryos for crystallization. A minimum can appear in the total free energy of a liquid containing the crystalline embryos, and medium range order is assured as the quasi-equilibrium state in the supercooled state. Different kinds of degree of order, chemical short and medium range order and experiments related with the medium range order are discussed.
