SPECTRAL CHANGES OF THE SELF-TRAPPED EXCITON LUMINESCENCE IN RBI UNDER HYDROSTATIC-PRESSURE

摘要
The spectra of three luminescence bands (sigma, pi and Ex bands) associated with self-trapped excitons in RbI have been observed under hydrostatic pressure. The pressure induces spectral changes of the luminescence bands: 1) the peak energies shift to higher energy, 2) the widths decrease and 3) the intensity of the pi (2.16 eV) band decreases and those of the Ex (3.07 eV) and sigma (3.90 eV) bands increase. These results are interpreted in terms of a pressure induced change in the adiabatic potential energy surface of the self-trapped exciton states.
