摘要
The SRIXE (synchrotron radiation induced X-ray emission) technique has been applied for several years in different fields of science. Since it has a number of useful advantages [1] it has been applied to microanalysis of thin tissue sections in order to investigate the trace element distribution in normal and cancerous kidneys. All the samples were surgically obtained in the Clinic of Urology at the Academy of Medicine in Cracow, Poland and were investigated in Hasylab at DESY, Hamburg, Germany with the synchrotron beam of 70-mu-m X 100-mu-m. Although only a few samples were measured so far, the results obtained seem to be promising. Enhanced trace element concentrations in cancerous parts of kidneys have been observed.
