TC OF YBA2CU3O7-DELTA PREPARED FROM PURE METALS AND ONLY O-2(18)

Samples of YBa2Cu3O7-δ prepared from pure metals and only 18O2 have a Tc (midpoint) = 91.9 K. Therefore, the isotopic substitution of 16O by 18O causes a decrease of Tc which is definitely not larger than 0.6 K. All samples used were first synthesised with 16O2. The resulting 16O was then replaced with 18O by heating in vacuum and cooling under an 18O2 atmosphere.
