摘要
The conventional pinhole X-ray camera is ultimately limited in resolution by the smallest practicable pinhole (typically 2 μm) and also has low sensitivitbecause of the smalle aperture. An alternative imaging scheme is proposed, wherein the source intensities are reconstructed from penumbral images cast by occluding edges. This technique offers the prospect of diffraction limited resolution, higher sensitivity, and when, combined with a streak camera, picosecond temporal resolution. Various techniques for reconstructing X-ray sources are compared using synthetic data and estimates are made of the number of penumbral images required to resolve given levels of source detail. Constraints on the geometrical arrangements used in image formation are examined and preliminary results with real data are reported. © 1979.
