摘要
Underlying ideas about drug use and control are examined in order to construct a framework for analyzing U.S. drug policy. Four distinct approaches to policy-legalization, entitlement, paternalism, and punishment-are outlined. It is argued that consideration of these four policy perspectives and the underlying ideas about drug use and control provide an opportunity to make elements of the debate surrounding drug policy more explicit.
