EFFECTS OF RESCATTERING ON REACTION 6LI(PI-,2N)4HE

The rescattering effects on the reaction 6Li(π-, 2n)4He are investigated on the basis of previous theory by which absorption of pions at low energy by a deuteron is treated. The wave function of 6Li is given by the α-deuteron cluster model including the nuclear correlations due to the short-range repulsive core of the nuclear force. The rescattering gives a large contribution to the total absorption rates and the momentum distributions of the emitted neutrons. In particular, the rescattering strongly interferes with the nuclear correlation of strength η = 1.6 fm-2. The theoretical curves are in good agreement with the experimental data. © 1968.
