摘要
The force of detachment from the air/liquid interface of glass microspheres in dodecylamine hydrochloride solutions has been determined for particles of radius 25 240-mu-m. For ensembles of large particles, the values obtained for the maximum force of attachment were within 15% of those predicted by earlier theories, whereas particles smaller than 100-mu-m exhibited a force of attachment that exceeded the predicted values by 300 400%. However, single particles in the above size range showed no measurable deviation. The deviation exhibited by ensembles has been attributed to the cooperative interaction between the particle fineness and the shape irregularities at the interface.
