Recent identification of the hepatitis E virus allowed to recognize its responsability in enterically transmitted non-A, non-B hepatitis. Hepatitis E is a wide-spread affection, occuring in epidemics or endemo sporadic cases in many disadvantaged countries it is an imported disease. Clinical aspects are the same as hepatitis A, except unusual gravity in pregnant women. We report epidemiological and clinical aspects of 39 imported hepatitis E (27 from Chad, 6 from French Guyana, 6 from Somalia) observed in our service among military personnal.
