DIRECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE RESISTANT BIOPOLYMER AND THE TETRATERPENIC HYDROCARBON IN THE LYCOPADIENE RACE OF BOTRYOCOCCUS-BRAUNII

摘要
Very long chain C40 isoprenoid hydrocarbons and ketones are shown to be the major constituents of the 400° pyrolysate of the resistant biopolymer (PRB L) isolated from the L race of Botryococcus braunii. Determination of their chemical structure indicates that they derive from a lycopane-type skeleton. The only hydrocarbon produced by this race of B. braunii is a tetraterpene, lycopadiene. The present results therefore demonstrate a 'resistant biopolymerhydrocarbon' relationship in the L race of B. braunii. A similar relationship was previously noted in the A race (normal alkadiene producing) while it was excluded in the B race (triterpenic hydrocarbon producing). © 1990.
