摘要
This article presents analyses of the soil temperature and soil moisture regimes on a mountain slope on the basis of measurements during five years at 17 sites on Maui, Hawaii. Soil temperature regimes over the 400 km2 study area indicate that the isothermic zone extends higher on the mountain than previously thought and that the dry leeward areas contain an hyperthermic zone. Hyperthermic regimes had not previously been identified in the Hawaiian Islands. Soil moisture regimes range from aridic to udic. The hyperthermic-isohyperthermic boundary and the limit of the aridic regime coincide approximately with the isohyet of 600 mm annual rainfall, an amount close to the average annual rainfall of the nearby open ocean. © 1990.
