STUDIES ON THE PARTITION BEHAVIOR OF 3 ORGANIC HYDROPHOBIC POLLUTANTS IN NATURAL HUMIC WATER

摘要
An attempt to determine partition coefficients (K(p)) of 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorobiphenyl, DDT and 3,4-benzopyrene to natural aquatic humus was made. Reversed-phase C-18 cartridges were used for sorption of the nonassociated compounds and liquid-liquid extraction was used for recovery of the associated compounds in the cartridge effluent. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results allowed a K(p) value to be calculated on the basis of the difference in behaviour in humic water compared to HPLC-grade water only for 3,4-benzopyrene. Consequently, this study could not verify the existence of associates between aqueous humic matter and 2,2',5,5'-tetrachlorobiphenyl and DDT.
