摘要
A theory is developed to help interpret measured scattered-light distributions from low-loss optical fiber waveguides. The angular distribution of light scattered by parallel-illuminated dielectric needles is derived for the case where the radius is much smaller than the light wavelength and the finite length is much greater than the wavelength. Scattered light is strongly peaked in the near-forward direction.
