摘要
Rapidly quenched Pr-Co binary ribbons with various Pr contents in the range of 11.1 approximately 18.1 at % were produced by the single roller method and their magnetic properties were investigated. It was found that the ribbons with 17.3 at% Pr exhibit high coercivity value of 1100 kA/m, which is two or three times higher than those of sintered magnets of the Pr-Co system. These alloy ribbons consist only of the PrCo5 grains of 0.3 approximately 0.8-mu-m in diameter. On the contrary, the ribbons with other compositions, which contain the Pr2Co17 or the Pr5Co19 phase as a secondary phase, possess much lower coercivity values. This indicates that these phases serve as nucleation centers for the formation of inverse magnetic domains.
