摘要
The electrochemical behaviour of a flame cleaned Pt(110) electrode in contact with carbonate and bicarbonate solutions has been studied. From the hydrogen content of the surface in carbonate solution, it may be inferred that this surface does not undergo reconstruction if oxygen adsorption is avoided. In bicarbonate solution a slight increase of the amount of adsorbed hydrogen suggests that a partial and limited reconstruction of the surface was achieved. Moreover, in the latter the presence of a CO-like adsorbed compound on the surface has been detected. This CO could originate from the reduction of either HCO3- ions or CO2 produced by the dissociation of bicarbonate.
