摘要
This paper presents the results of investigations carried out on highways with different paving materials. The important results are as follows: Runoff and pollution load it carries are determined by the method of drainage used. The systematic usage of thawing salt leads to significantly higher chloride contents in the surface runoff than in the rainwater itself. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) can be found in the surface water from the federal highways in concentrations that are 50 to 80 times higher than those in the water of rivers and lakes. Only a small percentage (approx. 14%) of the PAHs can be found in the soluble phase. Thus the major portion of the PAHs can be removed by separating off the solids in the runoff.
