TEMPERATURE AND DENSITY MEASUREMENTS IN MIDPLANE OF A LONG THETA PINCH

摘要
This paper describes the measurement of the plasma parameters in an 8-m long theta pinch. The plasma in the midplane is free of end effects and energy loss for some tens of microseconds and has electron densities of two 5x10//1//6 electrons/cc and temperatures of 100 to 300 ev. The measured radial distribution of temperature and density and their dependence on voltage and filling pressure agreed with MHD code calculation using an anomalous resistivity previously shown to account for diffusion in the early stages.
