CRITICAL CORRELATIONS IN COUPLED MAP LATTICES

The time-dependent spatial pair-correlation function is calculated for a (d = 1)-dimensional lattice of coupled tent maps. At the critical point for the onset of spatio-temporal intermittency, we find power-law correlations with an exponent-eta. The data are well described by a dynamical scaling function and satisfy a (hyper) scaling relation 2-beta/nu = d-2 + eta where the ratio-beta/nu is calculated from finite size scaling of the order parameter which is defined as the fraction of chaotic sites.
