CRITICAL-TEMPERATURE OF THE 1ST LAYERING TRANSITION OF ACETYLENE ADSORBED ON GRAPHITE (0001)

摘要
New measurements of adsorption isotherms of C2H2 on graphite (0001) have been carried out in the range of coverage corresponding to the first layering transition. They were undertaken because two previous studies gave for the critical temperature of this transition widely different values. We show that the first proposed value was the correct one. A priori it seemed unexpectedly high, but we suggest that this can be explained by a significant orientational ordering of the molecules within the liquid monolayer.
