摘要
Routine left-sided colonoscopy, instead of sigmoidoscopy, is a practical office measure. However, details of preparation and positioning of the patient are critical. The procedure has high productivity worth the added cost and effort. Cancer prevention is enhanced. Barium-enema examinations were found to have limited accuracy in polyp discovery, to a degree not previously appreciated. © 1979 American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
